Education Centre
The Aleza Field Education Centre (FEC) is an exciting new facility at the Aleza Lake Research Forest . Officially opened in 2016, the FEC was designed to enhance education, training and research at the forest, offering students and clients the chance to learn up close, in nature’s classroom.
Our goal is to operate the FEC entirely self-sufficiently. The building is completely ‘off-the-grid’, relying on locally-sourced wood for heat through the winter, and chilly spring and fall days. Although we currently use generators to power lights, our plan is to go completely to renewable energy by adding solar panels. A rain water collection system is in place.
The FEC is an excellent venue for a variety of learning activities, including outdoor education, conferences and courses, training events or any experiential learning opportunities.
