Education Centre

The Aleza Field Education Centre is an exciting new facility at the Aleza Lake Research Forest . Officially opened in 2016, the AFEC was designed to enhance education, training and research at the forest, offering students and clients the chance to learn up close, in nature’s classroom.

Our goal is to operate the AFEC entirely self-sufficiently. The building is completely ‘off-the-grid’, relying on locally-sourced wood for heat through the winter, and chilly spring and fall days.  Although we currently use diesel generators to power lights, our plan is to go completely to renewable energy by adding solar panels. A water collection system is also part of the long-term plan.

The Aleza Field Education Centre is an excellent venue for a variety of learning activities, including outdoor education, conferences and courses, training events or any experiential learning opportunities.
